Update: Franklin Water System

The City received approximately 100 applications for the Water Director position. After review by senior staff, six applications have been selected for further consideration. The city also received over 30 applications for the Assistant Water Director position. Senior staff culled these and selected 7 for further consideration. On Monday and Tuesday, on site interviews will be conducted for the director's position. Yours truly has been asked to participate in the interviews.

On a different subject - Will the CCofF and Carnton deals go back to "back room" deals now that you are no longer chairman of the Public Enterprise Committee? I noticed that both are on the agenda tomorrow night.

While I no longer chair the committee, I am Vice Chair. I have never really gotten all that hung up on chair/vice chair/member/nonmember of committeess since I can show up and say whatever I want at any committee anyway.

Dana, here's a question for your water system candidates:

Given:
"A wastewater treatment plant provides primary treatment for 30 MGD of sanitary sewage having an average SS content of 200 PPM, 60% of which is removed in the clarifiers. Sludge pumped daily to the digesters contains 4% dry solids, 65% of which are volatile. Digestion at 90 degrees F reduces volatile solids 60%, producing gas having a heat value of 600 BTU per cubic foot of the rate of 15 cubic feet per pound of volatile matter destroyed."

"All of the gas is used as fuel in engines. Heat recovered from engine jackets and exhaust is 50% of input and is used to heat the digesters in a system having an efficiancy of 75%."

Determine:
How much additional heat from other sources is required when digestion tank losses are 1,000,000 BTU per hour and primary sludge has a temperature of 45 degrees F.

Apparently, negotiations continue. As of this afternoon, Franklin's Charge had not tendered any money to the city. Issues with the beavers remain unresolved. The terms of the lease with Carnton are also unresolved. It is increasingly likely that there will not be a closing on November 30th.

Dana,
Did the city ever cut a check for the earnest money ($10,000)?
